no heat but the temp gauge reads normal

i cant figure out why im not getting very warm air but everything under the hood seems fine. i rebuilt the engine about 8k miles ago the temp was fine during summer with the a/c on and off. the temp seems to be the same now thats its winter here in indiana but the air doesnt blow very warm at all. the only thing that is not new is the heater core but the heat blew fine when i tore it down to rebuild cause of timing chain guide break. anyone ever been through anything similar or have any ideas? thanks for any help.

If it's not leaking, you may have an air bubble in the core.

Try bleeding the core and system again.

If not that, then you may have a restriction/blockage of some type in the core.

jmbecker,

Have you checked to make sure your cable to the heater valve in the engine compt. is hooked up and working properly?? If that is working properly then you might want to do a heater core flush. It might have become clogged.

I'd check the cable from the heat control to the valve on the firewall first, as mentioned above.

Do you notice any gurgling sounds when you shut-off the engine?
