Drive Axle-CV on Sienna 2007 CE 69K

Just had the safety recalls done today and had dealer look into a "chatter/vibration" of the front end during acceleration at around 40 - 60 mph...

Turned out to be "excessive play in the front right drive axle".

At 69,000miles?????

Anybody has any idea about a) how to replace this myself and b) since this should not happen at 69K, any chance that Toyota would cover that under "warranty"?

BTW: the transmission was replaced by dealer some 16K ago.......

What is going on Toyota?

interested in what happen to the transmission at that low of miles.

my 08 is about to turn 65K miles and the car has a drone noise sometimes at about 47 miles per hr.

dealer checked it out and said it good to go, hardly ever hear it unless you are in slow traffic

trans is not to be serviced until 100k

odd that your cv unit is going out unless the boot got torn and let dirt into unit.

my transmission had a grinding noise when at speed; hot; off gas coasting down.

Received some GOOD NEWS TODAY: Toyota/Dealer will cover the right-side drive axle replacement NO CHARGE !!

I am glad they did, as this must be something very unusual; all my internet searches and inquiries with other owners went nowhere.

We hope and pray that this is the "last" of the issues we will have with our Sienna.

Will advise when this is done to make sure that's really the issue at hand making that noise.

Happy driving

[PS: no, the boots did not have any rip or damage, nor any signs of leaking oil/grease]
