I have 2002 Tacoma with a 4-cylinder engine. In the maintainence book, it says the timing belt should be replaced at 90,000 miles except some engine models. I got an auto repair estimates at automd for this replacement costing me $50-$100. Does the estimate correct? Do you have any other ideas or recommendations for what may need to be done? Many thanks.

Hey Tony Hawk (^:
I am somewhat technically challenged, but the link below is a good reference for finding what it is you need, and your maintenance schedule.
Best of luck.

Tony, the 4 banger in your tacoma uses a timing chain instead of timing belt. It does not need to be replaced at 90k.
As far as the estimate, that seems extremely low....like it is just the cost of the part. The labor is the most expensive and depending on rates could be around 400-600 bucks since it takes about 4-6 hrs to replace one.
