2011 Toyota highlander Navigation override problem!!!!!

Does any one know a way to disable this Toyotas so called safety feature, because i think driver and passenger are more safe if they are not pissed off. I am unhappy because I paid $ 2500 or more for my convenience and what I got is sooooo annoying.

Please help me fix this problem. I need to know how can I go to Toyotas service menu to enable Navi Override.

Does navigation override also enables the Bluetooth and phone interchange option.

A Lockpick from Coastal Tech is one of the solutions. http://www.coastaletech.com/APPLICAT...IDE%20REV2.htm. The Lockpick 2 is the right model. Their site says 2008-2010 but should work fine for 2011.

I have the Prestigious Society navigation override installed in my '08 Ltd and the same model will work in the '11 Highlander as per the company. Works flawlessly - a great product. Has fixed all the built-in problems of using the navigation system when the vehicle is moving.

Thank you very much for your interest. With our navigation enhancement module, you can enable access to all navigation menus (DEST, POI, phone book, phone pad, etc...) when the car is moving. And if you have the aftermarket DVD system installed and hooked up to the front navigation screen, you can also enable video playback on the front screen as well.

This is what the reply of Prestigeout Society guys is. Now he is talking about a hookup of aftermarket DVD system. My question is, do I need to buy separate set of wires to hookup my DVD or is it just plug-n-play for Limited withouth NAV.

Even in the over ride screen you cannot change that setting.

So u mean I cannot watch DVD even if I have Prestigious Society software install.

If I have Prestigious Society software installed can I play DVD instead of my MAP screen on my using NAV DVD player

I know it can be annoying but there is a reason that they don't want you, the driver, playing with the Nav system while you are driving!! That is also why talking on hand held devices while driving is banned in many areas. Full attention should be paid to driving. As for having someone else like a passenger using the Nav system, I don't think that it can be set up to differentiate between the driver and passenger unless somehow they worked in the passenger seat sensor to indicate another person in the vehicle.

That's what really gets me about the Nav Nanny, there is already a passenger seat sensor for the pass airbag all they have to do is send the signal to the nav also. Then someone in the pass seat could program the nav while moving. That is one of the main things I miss from my MDX, it didn't have the stupid Nanny, I could program anytime with that system.

That's what they should have done., Just like the passenger side air bag is disabled when no one is sitting in the passenger seat or the weight of the person or object in the seat is too light.

Not to mention the fact that we're talking about a 40K vehicle with a 2500 dollar Nav/DVD option. For that amount of money the darn thing should cook my dinner, feed my dog, buy my wife valentine's gifts and wipe my butt too...

+1 for the Prestigious Society product. Great, detailed directions, and also allows you to watch DVD while driving.

Actually, I emailed CoastalTech to ask about this, and they said that the 2011 was not yet supported.

The Prestigious Society box is interesting to me, though. Can anyone comment on ease of installation? They don't offer the directions on their website. And what about relevance to warranty? Any chance that this might void it?

FWIW. I'm re-installing my Prestigious Society NAV Override on Monday in my new '11 Highlander Limited. Used it for 3 years in my '08 Highlander and had zero problems. NO problem with warranty because it's plug-in/play ... I opt to have a local audio shop install (and de-install from the '08) only because I don't want to scratch the dash during installation. BUT, their instructions, with pictures would seem to indicate it is an easy to do install.

I love it and will have it working on Monday in my '11 Highlander LTD.

Hey MarkR, thanks for checking to see if it will work in the 2011 highlander, i want to get the PS for my 11 too, keep us posted on how it works for you.

I also emailed CostalTech about the lockpick2 for the highlander and they said it would not work for the 2011. funny thing is though from a Navi standpoint i wonder what is different from 2010 to 2011 in the highlander. i would think it would work.

if anyone out there has tried the lockpick2 on their 2011 highlander it and can give feedback that would be great!

rrgirgis: Just added the Prestigious Society NAV override from my '08 ... re-installed in my new '11 Highlander Limited. Works as expected - flawlessly. Simply hit the button on the right side of my steering wheel and all grayed-out functions on the NAV now work as if you are stopped. Simply a great, easy-to-use product that does what they say it will - no problems. And of course I really love the fact that the P.S. model will work on the new NAV system used in the '11 Highlanders as it did for three years in my '08 Highlander. If you want the option to use your NAV system when traveling/moving, recommend this product. (note: I'm not on the P.S. payroll either!)
