i am looking for a throttle controller or something to help out with the lag in the electronic throttle. i can not seem to find anything. i have read all about the pivot 3 controller but can not seem to find one.
is there anything else i can do?
ecu reflash to xrs standards?
throttle body swap, from different model?
2009 matrix s

There are several out there - SprintBooster and Blitz Throttle Controller, are two that spring to mind.
Though these are just band-aid fixes, all they do it intercept the signals from the Hall-Effect sensor in the accelerator pedal assembly and adjust the modulation of the signal to the DBW solenoid. In a sense, you are amplifying the signal (pulse width control).
Swapping back to a cable actuated throttlebody will be more costly than the gains you'd receive from such a mod. Swapping to a different DBW thottle body will also not help anything, and you'll have to add a piggyback or go with a standalone EMS system to handle the difference in airflow. Gone are the days of tossing a bigger carb, now you have to please the electronic overlord as well.
The XRS reflash probably won't gain you anything, as far as I'm aware - the two drivetrains are identical between the Matrix S and Matrix XRS.
I haven't put off too much by the lag, you get used to it. Opening the throttle sooner just means more shock the drivetrain anyways - the couple of milliseconds that it response gain to your actions will easily be eaten up by wheelspin from tromping that go pedal. Though I do wish that Toyota tuned it a bit better, as their DBW implementation in their Lexus brands are superior to the Toyota branded applications.

its not the pivot 3 but it says it will work for the yaris... do the matrix and the yaris have a different throttle body?

Apparently they all work okay. I really want one, but I can't afford/find the Pivot 3 because apparently they are out. This is apparently the best mod you can do according to people in the 10th Corolla forum. I heard the weapon R is good as well.
From following the other threads in the 10th Corolla they advise to stay away from basically anything that is not Pivot 3, and not much input in the Weapon R. A few people have tried the ones in your link and love it, but the question on the reliability is up in the air, especially since it is controlling your throttle.
But to answer your question, I believe they all work between the Yaris/Corolla/Camry/Matrix because they are all a 2A connector. Do NOT quote me on that though, its just what I was able to gather from other forums.

tomorrow i will call up and see if this will work for my 09 matrix s.
for $150 to get rid of the lag is worth it to me.
my last car had an enlarged throttle as well as a bigger throttle plate. it was TOUCHY...
